These small sculptures are a labour of love, each limb and detail shaped and assembled to create a serene and curvaceous depiction of a beautiful female goddess.

She is wearing a golden headdress with tiny sculpted pomegranates, leaves and flowers. The Pomegranates and flowers are glazed with a speckled red glaze and leaves glazed with transparent glaze and copper carbonate which lends itself to a very organic and unpredictable green - metallic black finish. I often use pomegranates in my work, not only for their inherent beauty but also their symbolic links to womanhood, fertility and ancient Greek mythology around Persephone the Queen of the underworld and Goddess of the seasons.

24k gold lustre has been added in a third firing which lends a sense of divinity and luxury to the piece.
