I think I will call these ‘Flora’ vases, after the Roman goddess of flowers, spring and fertility. Adding flowers to the vases means you can give them their own floral headdresses.

I’m proud of these (this one and her larger sister to be fired next week) because painting these stripes took hours but I gave myself permission to spend the time on them and I think it was worth it!

As always I love the process shots of the work. This is a greenware (unfired clay) stoneware plate which I have added pink porcelain decorating slip to and then scratched away to create the design (sgraffito) this will be bisque fired to 1000 degrees
